Service Councils Are Back!
This month, learn about Metro’s Youth Council program, bus, rail, and World Cup service performance, and all things transit across the region. Meeting dates and locations: 

Sept 9, Westside Central 6 p.m.: Metro Board Room, Metro Headquarters

Sept 10, Gateway Cities, 5 p.m.: New Location! Bell Community Center, Bell Meetings moved for several months due to construction.

Sept 14, San Gabriel Valley, 5 p.m.: Metro Division 9 Building, El Monte

Metro meets in the communities they serve. Attend to learn and give feedback on transit service, policies, and transportation projects. How to participate, agendas, and presentations will be posted here.

September 8: PSAC Recruitment Closes Soon
The advisory body plays a critical role in evaluating and recommending holistic, equitable strategies to modernize security operations and improve the rider experience across the transit network. Metro is actively seeking diverse regional perspectives to fill these seats, including youth, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and community advocates specializing in social services, mental health, or racial justice. Eligible applicants must reside in Los Angeles County. The open application cycle runs through September 8, 2026. | Full Details and Applications

September 9:  D Line Extension Construction Update Meeting
An in-person community meeting for the Metro D Line Extension project is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Beverly Hills City Hall. Curious about how new subway lines are built in your neighborhood? The D Line Extension is a major transit project expanding subway service westward toward the Westside. This update provides community members with the latest information on final construction activities at the recently opened Wilshire/La Cienega Station and ongoing progress at the future Beverly Dr Station. | Full Details

Planned Work

D Line Construction: The Lookaheads
Metro D Line construction continues along Wilshire Bl near Beverly Dr and La Cienega Bl to support station work and street restoration. Near the future Wilshire/Beverly Station, crews are maintaining Krail enclosures, pouring concrete sidewalks, restoring alley pavement, planting street trees, and implementing off-peak lane reductions. Concurrently, at Wilshire/La Cienega, ongoing activities include multi-weekend final street paving, curb and gutter reconstruction, curb ramp upgrades, utility adjustments, and instrumentation removal. Motorists and pedestrians should anticipate intermittent directional closures, weeknight lane reductions, turn restrictions, and sidewalk detours throughout both corridors. Eastbound Wilshire Bl Detour Between Gayley Av and Westwood Bl 
Construction for the Westwood/UCLA Station continues through October 2 as crews perform elevator casing drilling at the southeast entrance. During this work, eastbound Wilshire Bl will be closed between Gayley Av and Westwood Bl. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detour routes. | Full Details

G Line Multi-Use Path Improvements Begin September 11
Beginning in September, Metro will begin improvements to the G Line Multi-Use Path from Canoga Av to Sepulveda Basin, including solar lighting, pavement rehabilitation and restriping. Temporary closures and detours will be in place for bicyclists and pedestrians. Detour routes will vary by location, including the LA River Greenway and a temporary shared roadway adjacent to the G Line busway and Oxnard St. One night of overnight work is scheduled for September 12 between Canoga Av and Winnetka Av. Construction is anticipated through January 2027. | Full Details

I-5 North County Enhancements: Southbound Hasley Canyon Rd Hook On-Ramp Closure
The I-5 North County Enhancements Project will implement a continuous, 24/7 full closure of the southbound Hasley Canyon Rd hook on-ramp at Sedona Wy from September through October 2026. This marks the project’s seventh ramp enhancement under Phase 2 of construction, improving traffic flow and safety, reducing congestion, and improving travel times throughout the corridor. l-105 ExpressLanes Project: Full Directional Freeway Closures
As part of the I-105 ExpressLanes Project, crews will implement late-night, full directional freeway closures this September to restripe lanes and safely establish work zones for the next phase of construction. The first series will completely close eastbound I-105 between the I-405 and I-110 interchanges overnight on September 11, 14, 15, and 16. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detours. | Full Details
